KENT is seeking a Category Manager Private Brands to join the team with our Purchasing department, located at our Head Office in Saint John, New Brunswick.
The Category Manager Private Brands will strategically work with all Category Managers within the company, looking for opportunities to grow assortment, sales, and profitability through the development of private label products and direct import opportunities.
Through your leadership you will:
- Identify and build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with support teams to ensure accurate order information.
- Represent purchasing in new product development projects as an active team member.
- Regularly interact with Category Managers on product opportunities for Import or Private Label
- Track all current projects to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensure all product requirements are understood to meet product quality objectives.
- Develop and present item proposals to the individual Category Managers
- Understand Market trends and developments.
- Develop plans and priorities for the team to ensure activities are focused on achieving department goals.
- Work with data from multiple sources to determine and set competitive prices, from both a retail and promotional standpoint.
- Analyze competitive market data to identify trends and opportunities for product growth and additions.
- Develop measurement tools to identify trends and track performance.
- Work collaboratively across multiple departments to ensure all the necessary timelines are company standard are met.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business would be considered an asset
- 5 years of retail building material industry experience
- Analytical thinker with a data driven mindset
- Confident with decision making and project moderating
- A leader with collaboration and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge of products within all categories in the DIY industry
- Strong leadership skills
- Detail oriented, strategic thinker
- Ability to work collaboratively & independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective reporting and presentation skills
- Understanding of financial calculations
- Enthusiastic and proactive team player
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with Microsoft D365 ERP system would be considered an asset
