LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

 

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing development of the Cavendish Farms/Midland Inc. load brokerage operations in ND. They will be accountable for securing carriers to move truckloads of frozen fries to customers, customer service levels, securing carrier, matching loads with carriers at desired rates and margins, attaining targets and performance to ensure all freight is managed as per the customer's request. The ideal candidate will be a self starter, have knowledge of the Truck Freight Brokerage/Logistics business and can work in a team environment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education Required: Trade Certification or Associate’s Degree
  • Years of Experience Required: 2-5+ years of previous load brokerage/logistic experience
  • Ability to multitask
  • Basic math proficiency
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work rotating weekends in an emergency situation
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creatively reach out to carriers/trucking companies and build carrier relationships. Coordinate shipments with the partner carriers and outside carriers. Bring new carriers on board. Effectively move all loads tendered so as to ensure on time pickup and delivery
  • Must track transit times, progress and monitor the shipment. Contact with carriers must be maintained so that alternate arrangements can be made if the need arises
  • Reach out to transportation service providers to obtain quotations and rates for the shipments
  • Follow corporate policy, cultivate a culture of engagement, teamwork, and have a winning attitude
