Seasonal Farm Equipment Operator

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.

Cavendish Farms is looking for Farm Equipment Operators for a period of 6-7 weeks with opportunity for seasonal full-time work for the right candidate, beginning mid May. The exact start and end date and period of work will be dependent on weather and business needs. 

Planting seed potatoes is a dynamic activity that requires communication and teamwork to successfully and safely complete on time. The detail and quality of the planting job is critical for the year round success of the operation. The work done at this seed potato farm is directly connected to our Cavendish Farms french fry plants on PEI.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Must have valid driver’s license
• Availability to work extended hours, evenings and weekends
• Ability to work independently and in a fast paced team environment
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• High degree of attention to detail and demonstrated ability to multi-task
• Mechanical aptitude and previous experience working in farm operations preferred but not required

Key responsibilities:

• Equipment operation including farm tractors, forklift, skid steer loader, potato handling equipment
• Planting potatoes and/or associated tasks
• Basic equipment repairs and preventative maintenance
• All other duties as assigned
