LANDSCAPE FOREMAN

We are currently recruiting for a Landscape Foreman located in Saint John, New Brunswick.


 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with team members to ensure each project stays on time and on budget while maintaining safety, quality and production standards.
  • Utilizing hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment to complete job tasks.
  • Communicating with clients and team members in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Operating power equipment including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, line trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, pole cutters, sod cutters, aerators, pickup trucks with snow plow and spreader, power rakes.
  • Manually moving equipment and materials, as well as using shovels, wheelbarrows, and other transporting tools.
  • Estimating jobs (manpower, dimensions, equipment and materials
  • Ongoing communication with clients to address concerns and ensure satisfaction 

Seasonal Duties include:

  • Lawn mowing, edge trimming, blowing of debris, aerate and fertilize lawn areas as well as performing other lawn care duties.
  • Planting of annual bulbs, shrubs and trees.
  • Weeding, cultivating and fertilizing garden beds.
  • Pruning trees and shrubs.
  • Operate pickup truck, skid steer or sidewalk machine with mounted snowplow and spreader to remove ice and snow from designated routes.
  • These duties can require early morning or late night starts, extended hours, and week-end duty including holidays

Required Competencies:
  • College degree in Horticulture, or another highly transferable degree, or equivalent relevant experience 
  • Red Seal Horticulture certificate would be considered an asset
  • Experience operating skid steers and excavators
  • Experience in landscaping industry is required
  • Knowledge of cultivation: propagation, plant, flower growth cycle, harvesting, trimming, curing and packaging.
  • Knowledge of diseases, insects and fungi, as well as plant treatment options.
  • Knowledge of inventory tracking, monitoring systems, cultivation techniques and methodologies (including hydroponics, soil, synthetic, organic, etc.) and ensuring staff compliance with applicable protocols.
  • Experience operating various types of Snow Plowing equipment.
  • Strong inter-personal skills with the proven ability to engage and motivate staff in meeting deadlines and creating an amicable work-place.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Candidate must have a strong physical aptitude to perform manual labour tasks required; ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Possess the ability to think on your feet and use problem solving skills.
