Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager.

 

The Assistant Project Manager supports the AOPS Project Manager Technical Improvements and the customer by managing information associated to test, trials, and scope to allow the customer to accept deliverables and close out project requirements.  The position plays a critical role in understanding work that remains outstanding, and providing the insight, information, and business intelligence necessary to ensure requirements are realized.  Coordination of internal stakeholder information with external stakeholder expectations is a key function, realized through managing trials reports and records, and developing a comprehensive understanding of the trials program.

 

 

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Qualifications:

·    Education: Post-secondary degree, preferably in Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline

o   PMP (or equivalent) designation an asset

·    Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an engineering or programmatic environment

·    Experience in performance management.

·    Must be proficient in the use of MS office products (Excel, Project, Word, Etc.)

·    Excellent communication skills and strong capability in stakeholder management and teamwork; pro-active, results-focused, and proficient in working to deadlines.

 

 

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

·    Supporting the AOPS Program Management team with assigned Project Management tasks to include deliverables management and coordination associated with the handover of the ship to the customer.

·    Responsibility for Knowledge Management associated to scope and associated KPIs.

·    Leverage strong communication skills to foster common understanding and advance product acceptance.

·    Effectively working with associated Integrated Project Team Members

·    Properly manage the scope of work, monitor and report on variations to project performance and contract deliverables, complete business forecasts on a regular basis
