Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Scheduler.

 

 

The Scheduler will ensure that the integrated master schedule is maintained for the Program, work with the functional departments to analyze forecast vs baseline variances and perform what-if scenarios as required, and ensure schedules are updated to produce management reports as required.

 

 

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Recognize Diploma in technical discipline (Engineering, Engineering technology or similar) or equivalent industry experience.
    • PMI Certification and/or PMP an asset.
    • Primavera P6 Professional Fundamentals Certificate an asset.
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of scheduling experience in complex projects in a shipyard environment or demonstrated and proven experience within their current role.
    • 1+ years of experience with the use of the scheduling software, Primavera.
  • Experience working with multiple project integration.
  • Experience working within integrated teams, but also confident to work unsupervised.
  • Experience applying Earned Value Management techniques.
  • Familiar with schedule risk analysis using Monte-Carlo method is considered an asset.

 

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Development and maintenance of the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) based on professional standards such as:
    • Project Management Institute (PMI).
    • Planning & Scheduling Excellence Guide (PASEG).
  • Analyze the IMS and develop "what if" scenarios for in progress activities / new scenarios.
  • Critical path analysis.
  • Integrate sub-schedules into IMS (Primavera/Aveva).
  • Schedule development, Critical Path and what-if analysis.
  • Record and issue progress to stakeholders
  • Support the development of progress reports based on Earned Value techniques.
  • Resource loading and leveling.
  • Support in ensuring all weekly and monthly business reporting requirements is maintained.
  • Ensure multi-project schedule dependencies are implemented.
  • Maintain the Subcontractor Data Requirements List (SDRL).
  • Maintain the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS), Resource Breakdown Structure (RBS) and Control Account Structure.
  • Maintain communication with functional departments throughout the engineering and build phases of the project to ensure budget and schedule alignment with the baseline.
  • Day to Day
    • Consult with project managers and technical experts to review activities.
    • Implement, and maintain an effective scheduling management system.
    • Report and coordinate project timelines with internal departments and external stakeholders.
    • Update schedule to ensure project progress reports are created as required.
    • Incorporate Baseline Change Requests.
    • Implement project scheduling processes.
