Converting Manager

The Converting Manager will be based out of Toronto, Ontario (1551 Weston Road, M6M 4Y4) and is a key member of the Site Leadership team, responsible for coordinating and leading the converting operations to ensure the achievement of department objectives for safety, product quality, productivity, cost to manufacture, customer (converting/export) service and employee engagement and morale. The role is responsible to ensure systems are developed, maintained, and sustained to continually raise the bar on operational efficiencies and effectiveness. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, prior converting experience preferred  
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills that provide ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with multiple projects and priorities  
  • Proven ability to lead an operations team and provide guidance/coaching to achieve results
  • Knowledge and passion for Continuous Improvement methods and tools
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in budgeting and strategy / business planning  
 
 

The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:

  • Lead the Converting team by setting and managing expectations with the intent to achieve Key Performance Indicators(Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, People). 
  • As part of the site leadership team, contribute to the development of site strategic goals
  • Work with site leadership team members to promote and support teamwork across the plant
  • Ensure the team has established goals and development plans in place and reviewing these on the established basis.  
  • Participate, contribute, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to plant and converting area KPI’s.  
  • Effectively communicate cross-functionally to ensure the team is aware of initiatives impacting the department.  
  • Identify training and development opportunities within the team and department, create plan to close gaps, ensure transfer of knowledge
