Universal Properties Limited (UPL), a division of J.D. Irving, Limited, is seeking a full-time Kitchen Assistant / Porter to join our growing team at 100 Midland Drive in Dieppe, NB!

 

The Kitchen Assistant / Porter will report directly to the Executive Chef and is an integral part of the cafeteria kitchen team assisting with catering preparation, delivery and pick up, as well as kitchen cleaning and supplies pick up.

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Organize and prepare sandwiches, pizza, salads, trays and other catering items in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Assist with the organization, set up and delivery of caterings in and outside of the building.
  • Clean and stock all kitchen areas.
  • Pick up orders from food providers and grocery stores, i.e. Costco, Superstore, Sysco, others as required, on a weekly basis.
  • Cover the Cashier on breaks and lunch as required. Be able to initialize and close the cash at the beginning and end of the day.
  • Put away orders and keep the dry storage area clean and neatly organized.
  • Assist with regular inventory count.
  • Assist the chef or cook as requested.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in the culinary field would be considered an asset.
  • 2+ years’ experience in the food service industry is required.
    • Food Safety Certification and WHMIS Certification considered an asset.
  • Ability to provide consistency in the preparation and presentation of food
  • Ability to prepare food trays as per specifications
  • Ability to adhere to all food safety and WHMIS standards
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to give and receive feedback
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks; ability to physically lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday from 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, as well as additional hours occasionally throughout the year.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
