Our division is currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst for NBM Railways located in Saint John, N.B.   Our railway operation is comprised of three short line railways offering complete logistics and transportation solutions.


Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the effective and efficient utilization of the business systems.   As the subject matter expert, the successful candidate will lead the configuration, management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the business applications.



Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Develop deep understanding of the operational data model and data warehouse to leverage features and functionality of the business systems
  • Manage the systems environment to ensure integrity, performance, accessibility, and recoverability of data
  • Utilize visual and analytics tools to produce insights and report on data utilization and quality
  • Support the application life cycle work such as patching, upgrades, & testing
  • Improve the systems competency of the user community through training development & delivery
  • Provide in-house, front line support to all levels of the organization, resolve application or data issues and escalate externally as required
  • Investigate and resolve complex and unusual problems
  • Liaise with other subject matter experts and business system stakeholders to ensure adoption of best practices and process improvement initiatives
  • Work with visual and analytics tools to produce insight from operational system




  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business, or Engineering with a concentration on Business Information Systems
  • Demonstrated experience with a Transportation Management System or major ERP
  • Ability to describe, create and manage system documentation, including standard operating procedures, routine status reports, testing and implementation
  • Knowledge of data modelling and data visualization tools
  • Skilled problem solver & change agent with a high sense of urgency
  • Lean or green belt with process documentation capability is considered an asset
  • Strong, enthusiastic & confident communicator
