Director of Procurement


Universal Truck and Trailer is Atlantic Canada's largest heavy duty truck and trailer dealership featuring the most up-to-date dealer service bays in Southern New Brunswick.  We are an authorized sales, service, parts & warranty dealership for premium products including Freightliner and Western Star.  In addition, we service all makes and models for class 6, 7 and 8 vehicles, including luxury class RV's.


We focus on delighting our customers through continuously developing our team.


We currently have an opening at our head office in Dieppe for a Director of Procurement.  The successful candidate needs to ensure there is commercial rigor in place to successfully deliver business plans.  With customers and profitable growth in mind, the successful candidate will be a strong leader with a keen sense of business development.   


Key Responsibilities & Duties:


Research and form an annual business plan for parts by category with a focus on product development, marketing, sales and overall growth

Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote growth within the categories

Improve market position by collaborating with our Sales team to seek out new account opportunities

Monitor internal processes as they relate to the procurement function to ensure all areas of spend are effectively managed 

Develop and foster trusting relationships with vendors to not only access new products but achieve better pricing and quality of service on all products

Analyze data and insights to capitalize on industry and consumer trends 

Obtain competitive quotes or proposals as a means of validating arrangements and identifying cost reduction opportunities

Develop long-term strategies for product categories

Document and keep current supply agreements to improve our market position

Develop pricing and promotional strategies by category 

Inventory forecasting 

Determine product assortment and product placement, for both retail space and flyers

Requirements:


Post-Secondary Education in Engineering, Commerce or related field

Minimum 5 years experience in merchandizing or procurement

Demonstrate ability to energize, empower and engage team to get results

Must exude energy and passion for superior customer service and building and retaining customer loyalty

Ability to deal with conflict and adversity when leading teams through change

Must have track record as a team player

Excellent communication skills

Must demonstrate ability to organize and more importantly prioritize

Demonstrated proficiency developing, working with, and implementing business plans
