Business Information Analyst

The Business Information Analyst will be based out of Dieppe, New Brunswick (100 Midland Drive, E1A 7G9). As a member of the Business Information Team, the Business Information Analyst will assist business users in transforming data into information using various BI software.  They will be responsible for converting business requirements into reports and visualizations that enhance the users’ productivity and data experience. The BI Analyst will act as a Reporting Subject Matter Expert to assist various departments within Irving Consumer Products. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Business, Computer Science, Information Systems etc). 
  • BI/Analytics Certification would be an asset

Experience

  • At least one-year experience working with JD Edwards
  • 2-3 years working with and manipulating large data sets, or at least one-year experience developing reports with Cognos, Tableau, Alteryx, or Power BI
  • Experience working with data warehouse / store environment would be an asset
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Business Intelligence Analyst

 

The main duties/responsibilities of this role include: 

Manage Supply Chain Reporting Requests

  • Provide expertise and leadership to the various supply chain departments by working with the users to understand their requirements and translate them into meaningful reports & dashboards that support better business-making decisions
  • Select appriopriate BI Software (Cognos Report Studio, Powerplay Cubes, Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI) to support business requests
  • Manage access profiles (SAR process), report structures and schedules
  • Help with troubleshooting issues for various departments
  • Support IT during server upgrades, application upgrades, etc.

Act as Reporting Subject Matter Expert on projects and initiatives

  • Educate users on capabilities & interfaces of various reporting solutions at an end user level
  • Ad-hoc data gathering and analysis based on requests to assess the feasibility on projects
  • Translate end user requirements into technical specs (table, field alias information) and work with IT while developing reporting solutions
  • Support IT during server upgrades, application upgrades, etc.

Participate in building the overall ICP Business Information roadmap & strategy

  • Advancing ICP data analytics maturity level
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards, Cognos Report Studio & Powerplay/cubes, and Power BI
  • Competent/comfortable managing large sets of data (manipulation, creating logic, table joins, data types)
  • Ability to work successfully with various business users/functional areas and knowledge of applicable data
  • Understand how data warehouse (ETL) / data store environments (data replication) work
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office 365 skills
  • Basic understanding of Structured Query Language
