Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Accountant.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Qualifications:

·      Education:

o   Post-secondary Business degree in Accounting or Finance required.

o   CPA (or equivalent) designation, or 5-10 years of relevant experience.

·      Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting work experience.

·      Pro-active approach to problem solving and a continuous improvement mindset.

·      Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·      Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.

·      Ability to work as team.

·      Advanced Microsoft Skills. 

·      Strong attention to detail.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). 

Key Responsibilities:

·      Maintaining the general ledger accounts and/or developing or reviewing financial statements and reports. Reports may include financial and operating statement reporting for legal entities and/or operating companies in the group, periodic financial reporting including weekly reports, standard variance reporting, performance summaries, quarterly review reporting.

·      Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.

·      Performing all necessary accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards.

·      Working with external auditors during the audit process.
