ALTERNATE COMPANY SECURITY OFFICER (ASCO)

 

Irving Shipbuilding, located at 3099 Barrington Street Halifax NS B3K 5M7, is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company's primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Coast Guard. Reporting to the Company Security Officer, this position would have the primary role of fulfilling the duties associated with an Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) as part of the Government of Canada Contract Security Program. Working with the the rest of the Security team, the successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:


Responsibilities:

  • Assist employees with security processes, including collecting information and submitting requests for personnel security clearances 
  • Prepare, receive, and process Request for Visit submissions 
  • Conduct security orientations
  • Data entry, control, manipulation, and other data management functions 
  • Records management
  • Safeguarding of classified information and assets 
  • Liaise with subcontractors on contract security matters
  • Prepare monthly reports

 Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 years experience in an administrative role; 
  • Must feel comfortable in doing group presentations; 
  • Working Knowledge with the following Programs is a requirement: 
    • MS Excel 
    • MS Word 
    • MS PowerPoint 
    • MS Outlook 
    • Sharepoint 
    • Adobe Acrobat 
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse with all levels of management. 
  • Efficient in prioritizing workloads and multi-tasking to ensure deadlines and milestones are achieved.

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
