Irving Shipbuilding Inc., located at 3099 Barrington Street Halifax NS B3K 5M7, is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company’s primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on many significant projects for the Department of National Defence.

This position will be responsible for Combat Systems Integration (CSI) coordination, collaboration and scheduling all CSI deliverables for land based site and ship integration efforts. This position will report directly to the Director, Combat Systems Integration and will be responsible for:


  • Ensures all tasking and actions are promulgated and acted upon ISO CSC CSI team, to include on time deliverables, within budget and in accordance with technical and system performance requirements
  • Coordinates all activities through an integrated scheduler and deconflict tasking and events that disrupts critical path and milestones
  • Produce schedules, reports, correspondences and CSI processes
  • Interact with Canadian Government, Royal Canadian Navy and International CSC Program personnel
  • Plan and coordinate multiple activities, subcontractors and tasks to meet program schedule requirements
  • Work in accordance with the Integrated Master Schedule for the project
  • Work in accordance with the Earned Value Management System into the CSC Project Office
  • Plan, manage and report on budgets, schedule and progress within the EVM environment
  • Manage project administration functions such as document control, risk management, etc.
  • 5 plus years of experience in administration, staffing, and various business acumen working in a professional office environment required
  • Experience in the shipbuilding/naval sectors, major international or Defense required
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skill
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills; energetic and results-focused
  • Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work
  • Strong communication skills with internal (Shipyard, Fleetway, CSC Program personnel) and external stakeholders (subcontractors and Canadian government representatives) 
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Excellent communication skills - listening, written and oral
  • An understanding of Java, Windows based desktops and web technologies
  • Ability to demonstrate systems analysis skills, critical thinking and problem solving

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
