Cut Shop Associate
CUT SHOP ASSOCIATE
KENT Halifax is currently in search of an experienced Associate to take on customer and store projects in our Cut Shop! Cut Shop Associates cut countertops, doors, moldings, and other products as needed. They are responsible for securing and maintaining all cut shop tools and equipment, while maintaining a clear safety mindset.
The schedule for this position is dayshift Monday to Friday 8am-5pm and will be based out of 225 Chain Lake Drive, Halifax NS.
Typical career steps are to work in sales in either the Hardware Department or Project Sales.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of cut shop tools, saws and dust collection systems
- Communicates with customers, sales associates and shippers to ensure that work orders are properly scheduled
- Ensures those entering the cut shop follow safety protocols
- Builds custom wooden items for store use and product merchandising
- Cuts countertops and building materials according to customer order specifications with accuracy and minimal waste
Requirements:
- Safety mindset
- Carpentry/ woodworking/ building experience is preferred
- Experience using a variety of saws (table, miter, jig, circular, band) is an asset
- High attention to detail - will be required to measure and cut materials accurately and according to customer/ project specifications
- Able to work in hot, cold and variable temperatures
- Heavy lifting required
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Provide an exceptional level of Customer Service
- Team player; helps out across departments as per the needs of the business
