Finance Analyst

Dieppe, New Brunswick

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world.  We have two state-of-the-art potato processing plants in PEI, one in Lethbridge, AB and another in Jamestown, ND. Headquartered in Dieppe, NB, the company also operates an appetizer plant in Wheatley, ON and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.


Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning, the successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced, ever changing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.  The incumbent will be an active participant in the preparation and analysis of the monthly forecasts and annual budget while ensuring these packages are prepared accurately and in a timely manner.


Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years relevant work experience;

Post-secondary education in accounting; 

Achievement of an accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA or CPA) would be considered an asset but is not a requirement;

Proficient in Microsoft Excel;

Familiarity with JD Edwards and TM1 would be considered an asset;

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;

Confidence to challenge assumptions in a professional manner;

Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks in a fast paced environment;

Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high quality work;

Drive and motivation to continually ensure integrity and improve financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Assemble the yearly gross margin budget and monthly gross margin forecast.

Provide on-going gross margin analysis to leadership and sales through standard reporting and ad-hoc requests.

Partner with various departments to review the budget/forecast estimates,   critically examining them for reasonableness and accuracy.

Assist with the preparation and delivery of management reports explaining the reasons for budget variances. 

Regularly examine the effectiveness and efficiency of budgeting and forecasting tools/models.

Other projects and duties as assigned.
