HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST

 

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.

 

Under the general direction of the Manager of Human Resources this position will provide coaching in the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The Human Resources Specialist will support the Leadership team in driving engagement and performance management. The Human Resource Specialist will assist the HR team in delivering HR services at the highest quality standards.



Requirements:

  • Completion of College diploma or University degree; with Human Resources as the primary area of focus.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Experience leading and promoting Employee Engagement initiatives.
  • Proven coaching and analytical skills.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Internal drive to achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Access, Excel).
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide guidance on the application of the Collective Agreement and various legislations.
  • Coach and assist the leadership team on initiatives that will drive employee engagement.
  • Manage the grievance process as detailed in the Collective Agreement. 
  • Trend grievance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist the leadership team in conflict prevention /resolution.
  • Facilitate Labour Management Meetings and initiatives.
  • Provide HR to our Island Gas Team
  • Provide support to management and employees regarding HR programs, and policies.
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding HR-related issues.
