Lead Configuration Management


Irving Shipbuilding, located at 3099 Barrington Street Halifax NS B3K 5M7, is part of the J.D. Irving Group of companies and is in the business of building quality ships and repairing vessels. The company's primary site is Halifax Shipyard, with three other locations in the Maritime Provinces. Irving Shipbuilding is currently working on a number of significant projects for the Department of National Defense and the Canadian Coast Guard. This is a permanent, full-time role (one opening) based in Halifax NS.


Responsibilities:

  • Verifies and validates the formal change request in accordance with the statement of work
  • Coordinates the preparation of agenda and minutes for the Configuration Control Board (CCB)
  • Reviews all change requests for completeness prior to presentation to the CCB
  • Provides administrative supports to management during the CCB
  • Performs action item tracking & follow-ups based on the results from the CCB
  • Prepares measurement metrics & reporting on both process efficiency and product configuration
  • Maintains and updates the Configuration Management System to ensure all the identified baselines, change requests, status accounting reports and other related data reflect the configurations of the product
  • Acts as the one-stop centralized focal point in CM data upkeep
  • Reviews drawings/specifications on the change integrity
  • Performs other CM related duties as required
  • Supports Configuration Audits
  • Process Improvements - writing CM Procedures, training users and modifications to process/procedures as required
  • Support and facilitate IDE project setup, changes in these environments and assist in resolution of problems encountered by users
  • Support customer review such as CDR, FDR, PRR, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary education in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Configuration Management Principles and Implementation Certificate
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in an engineering and/or manufacturing environment
  • Extensive knowledge of CM processes, especially configuration control & status accounting
  • Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and ability to interpret the content
  • Experience in planning & conducting Configuration Management meetings, such as CCB
  • Knowledge of Product Data Management, Product Lifecycle Management and CM applications is required
  • Excellent Organization skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong understanding of Engineering environments
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
