Irving Forest Products, Inc., a growing company on the leading edge of technology in the sawmill industry, is looking for an experienced Log Buyer to cover our southern buying region.  Ideally the candidate will live in the southern New Hampshire, southern Vermont or northern Massachusetts area and be familiar with the logging and trucking dynamics of the region.  We are looking for a self-driven individual, who can work both independently and as a part of the log procurement team.

Key Responsibilities

·       Procure logs for our Dixfield, Maine site following sustainable company procurement practices.

·       Develop and achieve the purchasing goals for a defined purchasing territory.

·       Build positive working relationships with all industry professionals to promote the Company as the customer of choice through consistent and professional performance.

·       Cruise, inspect, and value logs from existing and future suppliers. 

·       Coach suppliers on proper log preparation and maximum utilization for landowners.

·       Coordinate logistics, both trucking and rail.

Qualifications

·       The ideal candidate will have post-secondary forestry training, although relevant industry experience will be considered.

·       3+ years experience in the forestry industry, preferably in procurement.

·       The successful candidate must carry a valid driver’s license, have a clean DMV record and be eligible to operate a company vehicle in accordance with company policies. 

·       This role requires extensive travel within the territory, and occasional travel to the mill.

·       A functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
