Irving Forest Products, Inc, a growing company on the leading edge of technology in the sawmill industry.


We are currently seeking Maintenance Manager who is safety oriented and energetic to join our team!  This is a permanent full-time staff role.


Reporting to the Sawmill Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of engineering related projects. As well as, plan, direct, and monitor all activities within the Maintenance Departments and meet established production specifications and schedules and quality standards. Develop and implement manufacturing schedules and procedures and allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity. Analyze production and maintenance records to identify problems and recommend solutions that will improve performance. Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future production needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.




  • Education Required: Bachelor's Degree, a focus in Engineering is preferred.
  • Years of Experience Required: 2+ years of relevant experience
  • A strong commitment to safety and an understanding to behavior-based safety programs.
  • Understanding & Experience in Process Improvement is an asset
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and career development
  • General knowledge of civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills 
  • Ability to multi-task in a multidisciplinary environment, with a high level of detail.
  • Organizational, prioritizing and time management skills
  • Willingness to work with various shifts
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in safety, quality, cost, and employee engagement to the maintenance team.
  • Manage maintenance department which consists of the following areas; Electrical, Mechanical, Boilers and Plant Inventory.
  • Responsible for all mill project management activity.  Including the following:
    • Assisting the team with preliminary and detail design tasks.
    • Preparing cost estimates.
    • Assisting in the development of engineering specifications 
  • Support and ensure preventive maintenance program is on track and on budget.  
  • Perform all other related tasks that will help drive both the maintenance department and overall success of the mill.
  • Occasional fieldwork and travel are required
