Maintenance Mechanic 

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.

Perform all aspects of maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all processing elements.
•    Respond to process line or emergency calls to analyze, evaluate and repair processing. Perform lock out tag out procedures as required. Maintain accurate associated documentation.
•    Perform all equipment preventive maintenance as required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and management. Proactively monitor processing area to ensure optimum performance.
•    Assist outside contractors as needed. Install new or revised equipment or devices as required. Forecast any probable future issues that may cause downtime. Train new employees as required. 
•    Participate in Six Sigma projects and carry out new initiatives to reduce downtime, cost and waste.
•    To maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. To attend and participate in meetings, training and continuing education programs internally or externally as deemed appropriate by management. Notify the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Engineering Manager of daily performance and/or issues.
Requirements: - All employees are required to complete food safety training and comply with all SQF standards. - Employees are expected to complete monthly, annual and job training as necessary. - Individuals will be trained according to the training matrix. Successful candidates must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. minimum. 

 

Duties to include but not limited to:  

  • In a timely and professional manner to perform all aspects of maintenance, preventative maintenance, monitor, troubleshoot and repair of all processing elements in the facility ensuring safety, communication and efficiency.  Ensures that all OSHA regulations are being met.  
  • Safeguard both employees and customers by maintaining the highest level of safety and sanitation.  Proactively communicate with all departments in professional manner to fulfill company objectives.
  •  Create and lead a positive, safe, productive & professional atmosphere.  
  • To respond to process line or emergency calls to efficiently analyze, evaluate and direct repair of processing equipment so that maximum safety and efficiency of the system is maintained.  
  • Perform lock out tag out procedures as required.  
  • Keep accurate documentation.
  • To perform all equipment preventive maintenance as required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and preventive maintenance as determined by management. 
  • To proactively supervise processing area to ensure its optimum performance.
  • Assist outside contractors as needed.
  •  Install new or revised equipment or devices as required.

  • Train new employees as required.  
  • Participate in Six Sigma projects and carry out new innovative ways pertaining to maintenance to help reduce downtime, cost and waste.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • 0-2 years experience in mechanical role
