Remote Home Office - Bentonville, Arkansas USA (Within 2 hours distance)

We also manufacture private label diapers and training pants for North American retailers.  


The Manager, Business Development will be based remotely in the United States and is the lead sales contact for Walmart and will strongly and actively support the Director of Business Development for the Sam’s business and other Sales opportunities in the U.S. Market.  The position is responsible for developing sustained business relationships and driving profitable volume to achieve sales targets.  The position will lead the development of a strategic account plan (SAP) for Walmart and support the BDD in the construction and updates of the SAP and Playbook for Sam’s.  A successful manager is highly collaborative with great attention to detail.  The position will leverage category and shopper insights, along with category leadership plans (CLP) to achieve distribution, merchandising, pricing, and promotion wins.  The position will work with the cross functional teams where applicable to ensure initiative execution and 5P compliance. Ability to take customer from tactical level in promotional planning & forecasting, to high performing level. Implements Joint Business Planning and prepares formal planning sessions with the customer to ensure successful plan for growth. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Job Requirements 

  • University/Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5 to 10 years of customer management, category analytics, or shopper development
  • Self-starter, results oriented, acts with a high sense of urgency
  • Strong finance and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, responsive, and a proactive collaborator
  • Superior time management skills, ability to multitask, set priorities and plan
  • Ability to utilize category and shopper insights to build compelling customer presentations
  • Experience using Nielsen and customer data platform tools a plus
  • Understand 5P principles and analytics for traditional retail and online a plus


The main duties/responsibilities of this role include: 

Strategic Account Planning and Execution


• Lead, develop and execute a Strategic Account Plan (SAP) for Walmart and support BDD for Sam’s

• Integrate category leadership plan (CLP) initiatives, brand plan objectives, and playbook principles in SAP plan

• Engage and collaborate with CSD, Marketing, Product Managers, Sales Operations and Supply Chain resources

• Solicit customer priorities and feedback to ensure Irving priorities are accurately translated

• Develop an annual business plan which aligns with customer and Irving objectives


  • Deliver annual volume and GP targets
  • Achieve 5P objectives and goals
  • Track SAP plan progress and conduct periodic reviews with the customer and ICP cross-functional resources to adjust and revise the plan to meet market conditions


Customer Development

  • Develops sustainable partnerships across the customer’s organization
  • Proactively identifies growth opportunities and business optimization initiatives to deliver topline and bottom-line value to the customers and Irving
  • Successfully presents plans and negotiates terms to achieve desired results
  • Communicates clearly and persuasively so information is understood and driven to action
  • Develops Omnichannel relationships through account penetration and wiring
  • Responsible for updating Sam’s and Walmart playbook on a quarterly cadence


Account Management

  • Executes the annual strategic account plan (SAP) at Walmart to achieve results
  • Updates balanced scorecard reports and other period end reports as requested by customer Director
  • Involvement in new margin improvement initiatives.
  • Develops and keeps integrity of Customer initiatives tracking for Sam’s, Walmart and New Accounts
  • Responsible for Sales materials such as samples, specs and other information for Bids and testing
  • Develops and manages customer P&Ls to achieve volume and GP goals
  • Ensures accurate forecasting inputs to sales planning & operations, where applicable
  • Actively enters and maintains accurate volume and trade spend info in the PTP system for Sam’s and Walmart
  • Collaborates and aligns with customer on base and promotional volume forecasts
  • Develops and submits period end results and business implications
  • Identify and implement revenue growth management improvement opportunities
  • Communicates customer issues and opportunities accurately and swiftly
  • Communicates market and competitive intelligence to sales leadership and cross functional partners
  • Monitors retail conditions to ensure compliance on product distribution and competitive activity
