J.D. Irving, Limited is currently seeking applicants for the full-time position of Production Artist.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Graphic Design, the selected candidate will assist the graphic design team primarily in producing print materials and digital graphics.  The Production Artist is responsible for the production of print and digital files in a variety of media formats including Adobe documents in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator for the J.D. Irving group of companies, based in Dieppe.

Roles and Responsibilities:  
  • Working on layouts and artwork pages ready for print/digital
  • Liaise with the graphic design team to define design/production requirements
  • Take on designs during the final stages of development to ensure accuracy and prepare them for print or digital publication
  • Review graphics, layouts and fonts before products are completed
  • Retouch images to improve quality both in print and digital formats
  • Support internal clients with a range of digital, presentation and print production needs
  • Work collaboratively in a creative process to meet client needs and reach consensus with multiple contributors and design/production expectations
  • Meeting with team members to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the job
  • Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Working as part of a team with printers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, illustrators, graphic designers, web developers and marketing specialists
  • Focusing on ensuring visual and brand identity requirements are respected
  • Other duties/projects as assigned 
Qualifications and Experience: 
  • Post-secondary degree or certificate in Graphic Design
  • 3 - 5 years' experience as a Production Artist, Graphic Designer or similar role
  • Advanced skill in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop required)
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to produce artwork for print, digital and online (Print/digital portfolio samples required)
  • Demonstrated track record in prioritizing and time management with the ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines as competing priorities emerge
  • High energy level and dedication to meeting both external and internal customer needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of French would be considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and web development systems would be considered an asset
