Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston. 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient production of quality french fries and formed products in a world class production facility. Responsibilities include leading our group of Shift Managers and Packaging Supervisors to process potatoes into the highest quality possible, while maintaining safety and sanitation requirements and meeting targeted efficiency and production KPI’s.   Key areas of focus are Safety, Quality, Cost, Sanitation, Coaching/Development, and Continuous Improvement.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • A passion for our business and the well-being of our people.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, or equivalent business experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in a production & manufacturing environment;
  • Ideal candidates must possess strong team building skills and have the ability to lead and make decisions independently;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Uncompromised integrity; 
  • Strong attention to detail and use of data analysis tools;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects and priorities;
  • A lean approach;
  • Food processing plant or Industrial plant experience is an asset;

Key responsibilities: 

  • Optimize the production capacity to its fullest while maintaining quality, cost, safety, and sanitation standards as established by the Company and its customers;

  • Achieve Annual Goals:  Cost Per Pound, Quality, Safety and Productivity;

  • Ensure plant cleanliness to comply with Company Standards and Federal regulations;

  • Effectively manage and develop Shift Managers & Supervisors and maintain and foster positive employee engagement;

  • Keep the Director of Operations informed of daily issues relating to the efficient operation of production; 

  • Step in for the Director of Operations when they are unavailable;

  • Must be able to effectively interact with various support departments in an effort to work collaboratively to achieve a common goal;

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement;

  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and meeting Production department annual budget.
