PRODUCTION SHIFT SUPERVISOR

 

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston. 

 

On top of a commitment to quality and value, the Production Supervisor will uphold the highest standards of safety and sanitation, working with our Managers to maintain our efficiency and keep our great team doing what we do best. The successful candidate will directly supervise our stellar unionized team, interacting with every branch of the plant, seeing real results from their work. The Production Supervisor will share our belief in continuous improvement, and will be someone who consistently challenges themselves to grow, with an eagerness to help others. 

 

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative;
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in one of the following disciplines: agriculture, food science, business, engineering, or operations management;
  • 1 or more years of production experience in a food processing industry;
  • Three to Five years related supervisory experience in a unionized environment

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize equipment, supplies and personnel to maximize productivity.
  • Meet production output targets including recovery and volume.
  • Identify continuous improvements in methods and controls for the operation.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to employees to ensure that standard operating procedures are understood and followed.
  • Document and maintain accurate records with respect to employee performance, product quality, production/downtime reporting, health and safety, and attendance.
  • Develop, lead and coach employees through effective training and recognition.
  • Keep employee’s informed; support efforts of all teams, communicate all changes likely to affect individuals
  • Ensure compliance to Government regulations and Company policies for HACCP, Sanitation, and Safety
