Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen potato products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art processing plants in New Annan PEI, Lethbridge, Al, Wheatley, ON and another in Jamestown, ND, with head offices in Dieppe, NB and sales locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.

Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role on the floor of a bustling plant that operates 24/7. Shouldering the responsibility of improvements to day-to-day operations throughout the plant, the role calls for someone with the expertise and foresight to help plan for tomorrow. That’s because the Project Engineer will be working with the corporate engineering group throughout the startup into on-going operation of our new Fry plant, right here in Lethbridge.

Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • A proven track record of being pro-active and taking initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCad would be an asset
  • Exposure to a food operating plant environment would be an asset

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for start to finish managing of capital projects and major maintenance 
  • Develop budget, schedule, scope, process flow, detailed design, and drawings
  • Interact with departments to ensure the best solution and design is being engineered
  • Ensure various options are researched and reviewed for equipment, processes, etc.
  • Determine the role of automation in future projects
  • Coordinate and manage consultants and contractors
  • Recommend equipment for purchase
  • Conduct meetings and coordinate communication between team members
  • Supervise installation of equipment
  • Tracking of project details to ensure targets are met
