Senior Director US Retail Sales 

 

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.

 

The Senior Director US Retail Sales is responsible for managing the overall performance and development of Cavendish etail Branded and Private Label products at assigned accounts nationally. Reporting to the Vice President of Retail Sales, this role will work directly with key customers in the US market as the primary day-to-day relationship manager. In doing so, this role will be required to collaborate constructively with cross-functional departments, in order to develop and execute customer strategies that build the Cavendish Farms business in accordance with its strategic objectives and core values.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being a Customer Expert who:
    • Has a strong understanding of customer needs, priorities and strategies and is able to drive Joint Business Planning practices to promote engagement from all levels of customer organizations.  
  • Meets with customers regularly to review opportunities to increase sales and profitability.
  • Quarterbacking all aspects of the customer relationship as the primary conduit for business customer communications.
  • Develop and execute customer specific strategies to enable market share growth.
  • Creates and executes key account plans
  • Work in cooperation with peer departments including Category Management and Marketing.
  • Utilizes cross-functional expertise/support with the Customer where appropriate.  
  • Works closely with supply chain, demand planning, and demand fulfillment to optimize customer service levels.
  • Spends time in stores and in market and demonstrates a strong understanding of external opportunities and threats including the competitive landscape. 
  • Leverages data and insights to have a strong pulse on the category performance at all times. Is regarded as a category expert by the customer.
  • Meet and/or exceed volume, revenue, and margin targets in accordance with corporate objectives.
  • Leads customer RFP negotiations
  • Effectively manages Trade Spend budget and delivers expected ROIs.
 
Qualifications:
  • Degree, diploma or equivalent experience in Business or Commerce.
  • Minimum 10 years Foodservice experience with US Retail Supermarket Chains
  • Experience working with senior level management 
  • Experience in management of people and customer contacts
  • Team Player with excellent customer service and strong communication skills ad strong leadership capability
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment; self-motivated builder with a “Can do” attitude
  • Detail oriented, organized, manages time well to meet deadlines, and able to multi-task, strong sense of urgency
  • Strong computer skills: Excel, Word, Outlook required
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of US Retail Lanscape and of Key US Retailers
  • P&L Management, Ability to analyze IRI / Nielsen data
