Shipment Planner

As the Shipment Planner, your primary responsibilities will include managing the logistics flow for the site to service customer orders and operations at minimum cost with activities such as dock scheduling, trailer utilization, and coordinating and monitoring shipping, receiving, and storage activities.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Booking appointments, expediting and rescheduling late loads and managing and adjusting trailer pools with transportation suppliers
  • Computer system processing to accurately reflect shipping and receiving activities such as confirming loads, managing custom labeling, creating stock transfers, and utilizing defined work-around processes or escalating issues to SME / Help desk
  • Coordinating on-shift quality hold processes and providing interface between crew leader, logistics crew, and AWS inventory control processes

  • Records notable events during the shift and communicates them during shift exchange.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities to reduce cost due to waste in established processes / procedures.
  • Uses performance measures to identify and prioritize production area losses; provides description of problems and can provide updates of process or line issues.
  • Is a good team member capable of working within a highly effective team or part of a cross-functional team: responsible, supportive, and reliable.
  • Has a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail.  Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates willingness to adopt change and support the change management process.

Job Requirements:
Education:
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED, Associate Degree preferred
Experience:
  • Years of Experience Required: 2-5 years, preferably in logistics, warehousing, distribution, transportation, or supply chain
  • Comprehensive computer skills; fluent in Microsoft Office applications; JD Edwards or One World experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment is a MUST
  • Must have a strong understanding of systems and business processes
  • Must be comfortable taking the initiative to develop permanent solutions to problems
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers/suppliers 
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of commitment and self-motivation
  • Positive team player with a focus on problem-solving and working with others to achieve goals
  • This position works a 12-hour rotating shift

  • $24.83/hour to start; $25.85 after 18 months
