ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

The Electrical Project Engineer is a key member of the Engineering team. Reporting to the Facilities, Utilities, Safety, and Engineering Manager, the Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for being an in-house resource to train electrical employees on functionality and develop any changes to the programming, as we are continually upgrading our obsolescence technology: drives, controllers, and associated devices; supporting continuous improvement events that require process/program changes, additional safety devices, and automation; and overseeing the electrical portion of capital and expense projects from the idea phase to completion.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing projects of various size and complexity from concept to completion to include project updates and performance summaries, in a technically, operationally, and functionally sound manner. Project management will include cost estimates, detailed scopes of work, and effective, efficient use of both project capital and expense dollars.
- Monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of contract employees; Indirect supervision of maintenance crafts when involved in projects or problem solving.
- Designing and developing specification of electrical systems in support of projects and maintenance activities; Providing competent engineering solutions to operational challenges and problems.
- Teaching, mentoring, and coaching electrical crafts when required; Assisting maintenance with problem solving and redesign work as necessary
- Working safely at all times
Successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industrial experience
- 2+ years of experience of project engineering experience in an industrial setting
- Excellent computer and organizational skills
- Working expertise in project management processes and tools
- Good troubleshooting and failure analysis skills (formal training preferred)
- Working knowledge of power and distribution design and maintenance
- Expertise in PLC controls, stand-alone drive systems, and servo controls preferred
- Working knowledge of field instrumentation and discrete field devices preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
- High level of commitment and self-motivation
- Knowledge of converting (tissue or like industry) a plus
